Notes for Families
What is happening in class…. Reading - We will read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane chapters 23 through the end of the book. We will complete story map activities, ordering events in the book, and review cause and effect activities reflecting on all parts of Edwards Journey. Students will take a test on the novel by the end of the week. Students will work on word work and expand their vocabulary during centers. Math- Students will find the area of a rectangle by using composite units, find areas of rectangles and write matching number sentences, Develop strategies for finding area and perimeter, and create and use models of a rabbit pen to solve a problem. We will review new math vocabulary terms and continue building their academic vocabulary. Writing - Students will wrap up the informational writing project and begin writing final drafts for publishing by the end of the week! Social Studies - We will continue learning about Chicago’s history by continuing Investigation #7 in the Just Add Water book. Students will continue adding to their maps throughout the year. Science - Students will continue and revisit parts of the weather and climate unit. We will also begin animal adaptations and survival in different climates, discussing animal needs like food water, temperature, habitat, and types of predators matching it to the climate that best suits the animal for survival. *Homework for the Week: 4.8, 4.9, 4.10, 4.11 Homelink & Reading Log Friday :)
