Hi 214 Families! Happy summer- I am sad to be writing this email today as the year has come to an end. As challenging as this year was, I truly enjoyed each and every child in this classroom and am very sad to be saying goodbye. It was a wonderful class, and I felt lucky to have them. Usually, we send home resources for the summer, but this year looks different obviously. I have attached a CPS resources packet, a general 3rd grade packet, and some online resources. There is also a link to the Chicago Public Library Summer Reading Challenge. I highly encourage you to keep the kids reading all summer and tapping into math websites when applicable. Organically having kids tell you the time, counting out money, and adding/subtracting in their heads are great ways to keep math relevant and buzzing in their brains. Keeping a summer journal - encouraging writing as well as drawing, would be great too. I know kids can be reluctant to write when out of the classroom, so creating graphic novels and labeling pictures can be a way to sneak writing literacy in there. If you have any more specific questions, please reach out. Thank you for working with me this year- you were all a pleasure to connect with, and I appreciate your support as I clumsily navigated remote learning- lots of stressed out emojis inserted here. Best, Ms. Schuch https://cps.edu/SiteCollectionDocuments/enrichmentlearning/June8/Grade3-Resource-Packet-English-06-08-20.pdf
