Dear room 201 families,
Welcome back Ray Warriors! My name is Erica Schuch and this is my fourth year teaching at Ray. I’ve taught second grade for 3 years and now third grade this year. I am excited for another year and look forward to working with all of you! I’ve put together information listed below for you to review and keep at home. Reading these pages will give you an excellent overview of the policies and procedures in Room 201. **Please refer to CPS website for COVID related procedures, policies, and changing information. Communication Please review the following information about communication with me this school year.
Remind App (https://www.remind.com/join/schuch1) Mostly used to send reminders for upcoming events, but also use the messaging feature. I need your email or cell number to invite you to Remind. Please fill out the Parent Communication Form attached to this packet and send it back to school.
Homework Each night your child reads for 20-30 minutes and fills out a reading log Monday-Thursday. Lastly, there is one math sheet each night. There is NO homework on Friday or over the weekend. Important Forms
Attendance It is important for the students to arrive at the school everyday on time at the front playground near the auditorium in a line by the number 201. Any student who arrives after 8:45am must go to the front entrance and get a tardy slip from the security desk before coming to the classroom. Please remember when your child returns to school from being absent, you must send a note to the office for the absence to be evaluated and excused. The office will not excuse any absences without a note signed by the parent. Dismissal Students will be dismissed each day at 3:45 through the main entrance. It is very important that students are picked up on time. Students not picked up at 3:45 are taken to the wall near the auditorium doors to wait for their designated caregiver. Birthdays All birthdays for the month will be celebrated on the last Friday of the month at the end of the day. CPS has a food policy which does not allow us to accept cupcakes or other sweets for birthday celebrations. Please consider sharing a healthy snack to celebrate your child’s birthday or donating an item to the classroom instead. Donations of a board game, book, or other items are just as appreciated by students. Parent Volunteers If you are interested in volunteering in my classroom, or at Ray school this year, please visit https://cpsparentu.org/ and click the ‘Become a Volunteer’ tab on the side. CPS mandates that all volunteers in any CPS building complete this process before chaperoning field trips, or doing any other project in the school. Once you complete the volunteer process, please let me know if you would like to volunteer in the classroom. Please don’t hesitate to email me with any questions, comments, or concerns! All the best, Erica
