Classroom Website: You can now access our classroom website on the Ray School staff page (http://rayschool.weebly.com) under my name. Our websites will be updated weekly for your convenience. Math- Students will continue reviewing concepts from 1st grade that include using patterns to solve open response problems, writing equivalent names for numbers, place value, building fact fluency with combinations of 10, and introducing their reference book. Reading - We will continue reading workshop this week and continue to get ourselves set up for the year. We will finish assessing kids while they are setting goals and pushing themselves to read stronger and longer. I will introduce the first genre of the school year, Fables and Folktales. Writing -We will continue our writing routines this week with personal narratives. Students will get started on their first graphic organizer and learn how to transfer their ideas from their writing composition notebooks to a graphic organizer. Their writing prompt for this assignment is the best moment or a favorite memory of theirs. Social Studies - We will begin the year with our Community and Neighborhood unit making inquiries. Science - We will continue with our Earth Movements unit and begin our first investigation. Students will compare the 3 layers of the Earth to the layers of a hard boiled egg.
