Notes for Families
What is happening in class…. Reading - We will take an assessment on the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane as we finished the book last week. We will read the book Matchbox Diary and make timelines ordering the events based on the time they happened in relation to one another. Students will work on word work and expand their vocabulary during centers. Math- Students will play the area and perimeter game, create and use models of a rabbit pen to solve a problem, revise their work and discuss answers with classmates, find areas of rectilinear figures, and review for the unit 4 assessment students will take on Friday. We will review new math vocabulary terms and continue building their academic vocabulary. Writing - Students published their informational writing projects and they are hanging outside our classroom on display! Awesome work room 201! Students will focus on word work this week for writing. Social Studies - We will continue learning about Chicago’s history by learning about timelines in Matchbox Diary book to order events in history. Science - Students will revisit the weather and climate unit for one activity as the weather has gotten stormy last week and this week with snow!. We began animal adaptations and survival in different climates, discussing animal needs like food water, temperature, habitat, and types of predators matching it to the climate that best suits the animal for survival.
